Greenpeace Loves New iPod Nano

The day the new iPod Nano was announced at their “Let’s Rock” event Greenpeace rushed to blog about it the next day. They love the new Nano praising Apple for their attempts to become a green company.  Here’s some of what Greenpeace said:

It’s great to see Apple dropping toxic chemicals like PVC, BFRs and mercury in their latest products and a victory for everyone who supported our Green my Apple campaign. In May 2007 Steve Jobs stated that Apple would improve its environmental record by removing toxic chemicals by the end of 2008 and boosting recycling by 2010.

I, being a supporter of Greenpeace, am also very happy with Apple’s efforts to become a greener company. Apple is rumored to be releasing new Macbooks next month and it would be great to see them make the new Macbooks green too. They have already made the Macbook Air without any mercury and arsenic, so it could be possible for them to do the same with the new Macbooks. Now Greenpeace goes on to say:

While these iPods may rock what would really shake up the computer industry is if Apple sticks to its promise and becomes the first company to make personal computers free of toxic PVC and BFR’s. That would be truly groundbreaking announcement.

If Apple would do this they would probably have a great impact on the personal computer market. This would force other companies to have to race to catch up with them. So being that Steve Jobs did announce last year that Apple would be removing toxic chemicals from their products by the end of 2008 there is a good chance the new Macbooks will be very green. So what do you think? Will Apple make the new Macbooks green(er)?
